BMW Spectators Will Benefit Most from Conway Farms Changes
2015 BMW Improvements - Sept 14-20, 2015
As of 2006, Conway Farms Golf Club ranked ninth within the state of Illinois according to Golf Digest. And it has previously been ranked among the Top 100 modern courses by Golfweek.
The Club was Inspired by the Old Course at St. Andrews and Shinnecock Hills in the Hamptons. Conway Farms Golf Club is a Tom Fazio designed links course. Without a doubt it is one of Fazios best, with its gentle rolling terrain and beautiful vistas. Incorporating the existing forests, trees and wet lands. Players will be very pleased with the fairways and greens.
The origins of Conway Farms Golf Club trace back to three Lake Forest families whose love for golf was exceeded only by their foresight. Their vision for a first-rank golf club began with the 1956 purchase of a farm straddling a stretch of old Conway Road, thus giving rise to the name Conway Farms. The course opened for play in 1991, 35 years after that first purchase.
The course has played host to numerous amateur championships, including the 1995 Womens Western Junior, the 1997 NCAA Division I Mens Championship, and the 1998 U.S. Junior Amateur.
Most recently, Conway Farms played host to the 2006 Big Ten Championships.
Indeed, it is a course fit for champions, and amply prepared to test 40 of the nations premier junior golfers as they attempt to earn bragging rights in junior golfs ultimate team match play event.
